Exhibition of Polish posters inaugurated in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition titled, War in Polish Poster. Collection Krzysztof  Dydo, organized in partnership with the Bucharest-based Polish Institute, was inaugurated at the National History Museum of Moldova today.   

Attending the event were Polish Ambassador to Moldova Artur Michałski, Hungarian Ambassador to Moldova Mátyás Szilágyi, Director of the Polish Institute from Bucharest Agnieszka Skieterska, writers, newspapermen, curators.   

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the deputy director of the museum, Aurelia Cornetchi, has said that the terror of war and value of peace represented the main topic of the exhibition, War in Polish Poster. Collection Krzysztof Dydo, which comprises 43 posters created in the period 1939-2014 from the collection of Krzysztof Dydo. ”This renowned expert in the art of poster, author of numerous publications dedicated to this subject and co-founder of the Polish Poster Art Gallery of Cracow, holds the biggest private collection of Poland, which includes over 20,000 posters,” Aurelia Cornetchi noted.   

In his speech, Ambassador of Poland to Moldova Artur Michałski stressed that the selection presented in Chisinau was made up of two district parts. The first part, said the Polish diplomat, comprises posters dedicated to the years 1939-1945, unleashing of the war, massacre of Katyń, concentration camps, Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, and Warsaw Uprising, and the second one comprises posters of the period 1955-2014, dedicated to defending peace, international conflicts and different forms of contemporary terrorism.  

For his part, the director of the Polish Institute from Bucharest, Agnieszka Skieterska, said that works of a wide range of Polish artists from various generations were presented at the exhibition. The artists form the so-called Polish School of Posters, among whom there are famous artists.   

The exhibition will open till 30 November.
