Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ – An exhibition entitled "The Right to Memory", dedicated to the commemoration of Holocaust victims, was opened at the National Library (BNRM) today.

The event was attended by scientists and men of culture, representatives of Jewish Community in Moldova.

Interviewed by the Agency, the head of the cultural programs of the institution, Raisa Melnic said that the exhibition included over 200 exhibits (books, photographs, manuscripts) and presented material about the description of the murder of six million of Jews, of all ages, mostly from Europe, during the Second World War as part of the "final solution of Jewish problem" program to exterminate the Jews, planned and executed by German regime led by Adolf Hitler.

At her turn, BNRM’s vice director, Aliona Tostogan pointed out that on 27 January was an international day commemorating the victims of Holocaust, and it was proposed by Israel along with 89 other states, being established after the resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2005. The choice of that date, she said, was linked to the release of Auschwitz-Birkenau camp in Poland on 27 January 1945.

The exhibition will be open until 6 February.
