Moldovan speaker asks Turkish authorities to support development projects

Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/ – Speaker Andrian Candu and Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey, Ahmet Yildiz, on a visit to Moldova, agreed during a meeting today upon expanding cooperation relations between Moldova and Turkey, including through the implementation of new common projects, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.  

"Turkey is one of the most important and active trade partners of Moldova. We want the Moldovan economy to remain an attractive destination for Turkish business and investment for us," the Speaker of Parliament said.

The speaker referred to the developments in the dialogue between Chisinau and Comrat, as well as Parliament’s efforts of building of functional capacity of Gagauz People's Assembly. Andrian Candu asked the Turkish authorities to support implementation of economic and infrastructure projects necessary for the development and modernization of Gagauz autonomy and valuing free trade agreement with Turkey.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey encouraged further dialogue between Chisinau and Comrat for Gagauz population to integrate more actively.

Speaker Andrian Candu announced that he would pay a working visit to Turkey, during September at the invitation of his counterpart, President of the National Assembly of Turkey, İsmail Kahraman.

This year, Moldova and Turkey marks 25 years of diplomatic relations.
