Moldovan parliament approves legislative programme for implementation of Association Agreement

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/- The parliament’s annual legislative programme for the implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement for 2017 was approved today at the first meeting of the parliament’s spring session, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

“The programme with 111 actions mobilizes us and helps us organize ourselves as better. We will take efforts to speed up implementing the Association Agreement. Also, we will focus more on parliamentary control over main laws and reforms”, Candu said.

The document is elaborated under the National Action Plan for implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement in 2017-2019, worked out by government and coordinated with EU.

The speaker asked parliamentary commissions to achieve on time the actions seen in the legislative programme. Candu requested to consolidate all political forces in parliament to meet strategic goal of European integration.

The programme includes the actions assumed by the parliament in 2017, in accordance with the provisions of the Association Agreement, including amendments to legislation or passing new laws in areas of priority reforms. At the same time, the document sees responsible institutions, deadline for implementing the measures according to the Association Agreement and standing committee. The document is made public on parliament’s website.

By approving the legislative programme, the parliament recognizes the opportunities of the Association Agreement and role of parliament in transposing the commitments and ensuring implementation of the agreement.
