Moldova's national Eurovision 2017 semifinal appoints eight finalists

Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/ - Eight finalists out of 14 competitors participating in the competition were appointed following the results by the jury and the televoting within the national semifinal of the Eurovision 2017, which took place at the Moldova 1 public TV station on 24 February evening.    

SunStroke Project, Ethno Republic & Osoianu Sisters, Diana Brescan, Aurel Chirtoacă, Marks & Stefanet, Samir Loghin, Valeria Paşa, Vozniuc feat. Vio Grecu – these are the competitors due to perform at the national Eurovision 2017 final today evening starting from 19:35.

Four singers got in the final according to the points accumulated by the jury’s vote and another four ones were selected by the public via televoting.  

Moldova’s representative at Eurovision 2017 will perform in Kiev at the first semifinal, due on 9 May. Singers from Montenegro, Finland, Georgia, Portugal, Belgium, Sweden, Albania, Azerbaijan, Cyprus and other countries will perform on the same day with Moldova. The representative of Romania and Russia will sing in the second semifinal, due on 11 May. Interpreters from 43 countries will compete at the Eurovision 2017.   

Eurovision is an international musical competition, organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the biggest association of public broadcasting organizations from Europe. The first issue of Eurovision took place in Lugano, Switzerland, in 1956.  .

Moldova has been participating in this competition starting from 2005. In the same year, Moldova recorded the best result – the Zdob si Zdub band ranked sixth. In 2016, the representative of Moldova, Lidia Isac, failed to qualify for the great final with her song, Falling Stars.
