Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/ – Estonia will provide every necessary support to Moldova in realization of reforms and implementation of the Association Agreement with EU. The statement was made today by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Sven Mikser, following a meeting with the head of the Moldovan diplomacy Andrei Galbur.

At the press conference, the two officials noted that Estonian Foreign Minister's visit had to be made in the context of taking over the Presidency of the Council of Europe by Estonia in the second half of 2017.

Moldovan Foreign Minister Andrei Galbur said that Estonia was an important partner of Moldova and an active supporter of the European vector. "We talked today about bilateral relations, EU integration process, Moldova's modernization, common initiatives, strategic preparations for the Eastern Partnership Summit, national security, the Transnistrian conflict assistance programs, projects upon health, education, rural development and public administration. I also received messages of support in achieving major reforms and modernization of Moldova," Galbur said.

At his turn, Sven Mikser said that Estonia would continue to support good relations of cooperation between Moldova and Estonia. "Estonia offers annually to Moldova about one million euros to modernize the country. Previously, we had provided support to improve the medical insurance system, digitization of court decisions and implementation of the Association Agreement with EU. Similarly, I should reconfirm our support in carrying out reforms and we expect achieving sustainable results in Moldova's commitments to EU, which will have direct effect on improving the lives of citizens," Mikser said.

Estonian Foreign Minister Sven Mikser is paying an official visit to Moldova, where he will meet with President Igor Dodon, Speaker Andrian Candu and Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
