Exhibition dedicated to 25th anniversary of establishing Moldova-United States diplomatic relations opened in Chisinau

Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition of photos dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Moldova and the United States was inaugurated at the National Art Museum of today.   

Attending the event were Culture Minister Monica Babuc, Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Daniela Morari, U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James D. Pettit, the First American Ambassador to Moldova Mary Pendleton and the first Moldovan Ambassador to the United States, Nicolae Tiu, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Moldova.      

In her speech, Culture Minister Monica Babuc said that, during 25 years, the United States had been providing Moldova with assistance and financial support in different fields. According to the official, due to this backing, more culture institutions from all over Moldova have been renovated.

The culture minister thanked the American government for the support provided within a project on restoring the Assumption of the Virgin Church of the Causeni town, a project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on the Old Orhei Complex, a project on conservation of the language and the cultural traditions of the Gagauz people, etc.    

U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James D. Pettit, for his part, stressed that, during the 25 years, the bilateral ties between the two countries had witnessed a deep development and this development had continuity.    

At the event, the Posta Moldovei (Moldova’s Post) state enterprise launched an envelope dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Moldova-United States diplomatic relations.   

The diplomatic relations between Moldova and the United States of America were established on 28 February 1992.
