Japan provides over 400,000 dollars for human security projects in Moldova

Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Embassy of Japan in Moldova today organized an official ceremony of signing contracts on grant, to implement projects financed within the Kusanone Programme of Grants for Human Security, worth 444,270 dollars in all.  

In his speech, Japanese Extraordinary and plenipotentiary Ambassador to Moldova Masanobu Yoshii said that the goal of the programme was to directly assist  Moldovan local authorities and institutions from the territory, in order to improve the quality of life.

According to the official, six projects were approved for financing by the Foreign Ministry of Japan for the Japanese 2016 fiscal year, of which four ones – in the health sector and another two in the education field.   

Thus, the following institutions will benefit from projects on modernizing medical equipment: the Briceni District Hospital, Laboratory of Allergology and Clinical Immunology at the N. Testemiteanu University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Institute of Cardiology and the Sfantul Arhangel Mihail (Saint Archangel Michael) Clinical Municipal Hospital from Chisinau.       

The other two projects deal with the restoration of the heating system at the Tudor Zanet Theoretical Lyceum from the Congaz village, southern Comrat district, and extension of the sewerage system in the Ghidighici village, Chisinau municipality, At the ceremony of signing the contracts, representatives of the local public authorities and beneficiary institutions thanked the Japanese government for the support provided.   

The Kusanone programme was launched in Moldova in 2008. In 2008-2016, 38 projects preponderantly in the public health and school and pre-school education fields received non-refundable financing worth over 3.3 million dollars on behalf of Japan.
