Turkey to back Moldova in creating lab for checking medical devices

Chisinau, 06 March /MOLDPRES/ – The Institute of Standardization of Turkey (IST) will support the Moldovan authorities in arranging a laboratory for verification of medical devices. A statement on that was made today in Chisinau by Chairman of IST, Sebahittin Korkmaz, during the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Economy Minister Octavian Calmic.    

The Economics Ministry's press service has informed that according to the head of IST, the creation of such a laboratory will facilitate both the granting of quality health services to citizens, as well as provision of medical institutions with modern equipment. In this context, Sebahittin Korkmaz said that the institution he represented was ready to support the project in any mode, including direct investment.

At his turn, Deputy Octavian Calmic welcomed the interest manifested by the Institute of Standardization of Turkey on establishing relationships with institutions in Moldova, including through implementation of investment projects. "This meeting is a continuation of our Istanbul dialogue in December 2016, where we established the first direct contact and I traced the cooperation guidelines. I am glad now we are already talking about possibility of achieving exact projects in standardization, being in a total process of reform and modernization," said the Economics Minister.

The chief of IST is in a working visit to Moldova on 05 – 08 March, when he will have bilateral meetings with the leadership of the National Accreditation Centre MOLDAC, National Institute of Metrology, Institute of Standardization of Moldova, other state institutions, where there will be discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation, development and implementation of various programs and projects in the domain.
