Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/- The Power Plant CET-Nord requested increase by 16 per cent in tariff for thermal energy within public hearings held today by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE). Last change in rates was operated in October 2011.

CET Nord administration asks the increase from 1,056 to 1,221 lei per Gcal. The company representative said that the application did not include financial deviations, but only costs “which would cover current expenses”.

“After the last adjustment, prices for fuel and spare parts, as well as service maintenance costs increased. During past five years, the costs increased by 110 million lei”, CET Nord director Ion Galagan said.

He said that revenues from sales “do not cover the minimum costs necessary for energy production and stable supply of consumers and the efficient use of production capacity”. The enterprise is at loss since 2012. The losses increased from 26.8 million lei in 2012 to 53.6 million lei in 2016.

ANRE representatives said that the institution’s position would be announced at a public meeting later, when new rates are set.
