National Bank of Moldova fines by about 1 million lei shareholder of Victoriabank

Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/- The Executive Committee of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) decided to penalize a direct and indirect holder of significant share in the capital of Victoriabank Stock Company for non-compliance with requirements of the law on financial institutions for disclosure of information and documents required by the BNM to monitor and assess the quality of the bank’s shareholders, according to a press release by the BNM’s press service.
According to BNM, the fine is almost 1 million lei and will be paid in the state budget. The central bank does not specify about the shareholder who was sanctioned.
Victoriabank is under intensive supervision of BNM. According to commitments made in the programme with IMF, controls were carried out at three banks, including Victoriabank. The banks have drafted action plans on removing all drawbacks.
