Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/- Special Representative of Austrian OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Transnistrian settlement process Wolf Dietrich Heim  and Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration and political representative on behalf of Chisinau Gheorghe Balan today discussed next actions due to be taken to settle Transnistrian conflict.

Balan said that among the current priorities for solving the conflict are: ensuring farmers’ access to the farmlands, creating conditions for proper functioning of Latin script schools in Transnistria, free movement of residents and vehicles, as well as setting joint control at the Pervomaysk-Kuchurgan border crossing point.

“We are still willing to back an active dialogue to solve problems and get visible results, after which a meeting in the 5+2 format will be held”, Balan said.

For his part, Heim noted that the talk with Moldovan representative had been productive. “Today I am going to visit Tiraspol too, and I will meet political representative on behalf of Transnistria Vitaly Ignatiev. We expect regular meetings at working group level and in the 1+1 format, which will lead to concrete results that will be the basis for next meeting in the 5+2 format”, he said.

Wolf Dietrich Heim pays a visit to Chisinau and Tiraspol on 22-24 March, and will have meetings with ambassadors of Russia and Ukraine (mediators), as well as of the European Union and United States (observers), as part of efforts of international partners in the 5+2 format.
