According to the government’s communication and protocol department, switching to Daylight saving time is in accordance with UN European Economic Commission proposal and concurrent whith member states of the European Community.
The official time is changed twice a year – the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October.
Firstly, the shift to summer time was applied in New Zealand, in 1895. Moldova had resorted to this practice in 1979, so as to use the best natural light and reduce artificial lighting.
