Chisinau, 28 March /MOLDPRES/ - Moldovan companies presented about 210 qualitative wines and cognacs, including products which got the highest distinctions at international contests, at the prestigious international exhibition ProWein 2017, staged in Dusseldorf, Germany. Moldovan producers also displayed over 180 wines at China Food and Drink Fair 2017, held in the Chinese city of Chengdu. Statements to this effect were made at a news conference organized by the National Office for Vine and Wine today.

“The National Office for Vine and Wine – an institution in charge of promotion and consolidation of Moldova’s image, is following a complex marketing strategy and returns with new forces to China and EU, in order to be present on target markets. Due to the reforms in the sector, now we manage to perfectly meet expectations of consumers, whom we offer a great diversity of qualitative wines, which at the same time, have personality,” Director of the National Office for Vine and Wine Gheorghe Arpentin said.

The wine products were presented under the country brand Wine of Moldova.  Organizers relied on the potential for the vine and wine tourism in Moldova, so that they approached the topic spectacularly – offering virtual tours, which prove Moldova’s advantages vividly. Both in Dusseldorf and Chengdu, visitors of the events formed queues, being enthusiastic about possibility to “travel” to underground wine galleries of Moldova and six wineries, by using the technology of “virtual reality.”

Moldova participated in the ProWein exhibition for the fourth time with a common stand under the country brand Wine of Moldova, which brought together a record number of wineries this year – 35. Moldova’s wines were promoted on huge panels at the entrance into the exhibition. Also, 800 leaflets and 600 promotional bottles with Feteasca Neagra wine were distributed.

The 2017 issue of the ProWein exhibition, one of the biggest wine exhibitions in the world, brought together 6,300 exhibitors from over 60 countries, which displayed their goods to those about 60,000 visitors.

At the 2017 issue of the China Food and Drink Fair exhibition, Moldova was present for the second time with a common stand with an area of 124 square metres, where 24 companies with the country brand Wine of Moldova displayed their products.

“Moldova’s participation in this fair is very important, given that the Chinese market of wines is continuously increasing and is to become the market No 2 of the world as to consumption of wines. The market investigations, as well as such events prove that Moldova’s Wine is very competitive on this market and would have much to offer,” the deputy director of the Moldova Competitiveness Project, USAID, Diana Lazar said.

At the event, the Moldovan companies participated in about 90 business meetings and returned to Moldova with over 100 contacts set for future collaborations.
