Economics minister invites ' businessmen to invest in Moldova

Chisinau, 03 April /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Prime Minister Octavian Calmic, Minister of Economy participated in the VIIth International Conference of Annual Investment Meeting titled, International investment – the path to competitiveness and development, held in Dubai. Moldova, with its geographic location, with free trade agreements with both the EU as well as CIS, promotes policy of 360 degrees, representing a bridge of goods’ movement both to west and east, as well as to north and south, said the Deputy Premier at the meeting.

Octavian Calmic invited businessmen from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to invest in Moldova, which offer very advantageous agreements it has got.

On the other hand, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as well as other officials from the Emirates appreciated the decision of the Moldovan authorities on the abolition of visa regime for citizens of some states, including the UAE. According to the authorities in Dubai, this step would contribute to development of bilateral relations between Moldova and the UAE and would allow implementation of investment projects mutually beneficial to both countries.

During his working visit to the UAE, which runs from 01 to 05 April, Octavian Calmic will meet with leaders of the Chamber of Commerce in Dubai and Emirates Airlines Company, Mubadala Investment Company and LULU, organizers of "Expo DUBAI 2020" and representatives of various institutions and organizations providing technical assistance.

In February 2017, Chisinau visited a delegation of UAE, headed by Minister of Economy Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori. The talks focused on issues related to attracting investments from Emirates into Moldovan economy, implementation of joint projects in various fields and aspects of progress of negotiations on the signing the bilateral investment promotion and protection. The Moldovan-Emirate Business Forum was attended by about 100 companies from Moldova and over 20 executives of major companies in the UAE.
