Chisinau, 12 April /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, at a today’s cabinet meeting, made a demand to the Border Police and Customs Service to ensure order at the state border checkpoints during the Easter Holidays, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Thus, the PM demanded undertaking needed measures to ease the traffic flow in customs and shorten the time for waiting at the state frontier, given that more Moldovans will return home. In this context, the prime minister asked to supplement the staff, and if necessary, reduce customs procedures, in order to optimize the work at the border checkpoints.

At the same time, Pavel Filip referred to the toughening of controls at the border with Romania starting from 7 April, as a result of the entrance into force of the Regulation on amendment of the Schengen Borders Code. “The enforcement of the new Regulation will increase the duration of customs control; therefore, you should do your utmost, so that people do not feel discomfort,” the PM stressed.

For their part, the representatives of the Border Police and Customs Service said that they would work at the maximum capacity to ensure an efficient and quick control, in order to avoid crowds, triggered by the significant increase in the flow of travelers, specific for this period. The actions due to be undertaken by the authorities provide for supplementing the number of staff, use of all the control lanes, as well as cooperation with the authorities from the neighbour countries to this end.
