PM confident about Moldova getting 100 million euros from EU

Chisinau, 17 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in the beginning of a today’s cabinet meeting, said that he was fully confident that Moldova would receive the 100 million euros from the European Union, as the European politicians “make difference between politicizing and institutional relations.”

Pavel Filip noted that the subject was quite politicized and accused politicians from the opposition of attempting to block the European financing for Moldova, in order “to ensure seats in parliament.” Yet, the prime minister also said, the things will happen exactly as ahead of the signing of the Agreement with IMF, when the opposition said that a new agreement would not be signed; yet, Moldova has a programme with the Fund.

“I watched attentively the yesterday discussions on Moldova in the European Parliament. There is one conclusion – they insist that the financial assistance be provided to Moldova. I understand the despair with which the opposition is trying to exert pressures. This is a wrong way. Both the Agreement with IMF and this one do not provide only for financing, but also for conditions. We have managed, during one year, to move forward in more sectors, including in the financial and banking one. The result is visible. The 100-million-euros-worth macro-financial assistance for Moldova is followed by conditions too. Those politicians who rush to make pressures to cease the financing for Moldova give a double hit, on the one hand, the stopping of the financing meant to help the people and, on the other hand, the hindering of reforms,” Filip said.

The PM specified that this agreement on macro-financial assistance on behalf of EU contained 30 conditions for Moldova; the money is to be provided in three installments, depending on the fulfillment of these conditions. “Our message is clear – we will continue implementing the Association Agreement with the European Union,” the prime minister added.
