Additional control rules to be applied at crossing state border

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/- Government decision on implementation of the law No 215 of 4 November 2011 on state border of the Republic of Moldova will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 19 May.

The decision complies with the rules applicable to the control on persons crossing the state border and adjusts the national legislation with the EU one. At the same time, it transposes the best European practices in the field of reference, set out in the EU Regulation 2016/399 of the European Parliament and Council of 9 March 2016 on the Union Code on the rules governing the movement of persons across borders (Schengen Borders Code).

The document sees the additional rules on state border crossing control, the regime rules at state border crossing points, list of state border crossing points of Moldova, technical equipping of the state border crossing points, rules for issuing the permit to work at the border crossing points, specific rules of the border area regime.

Also, the document stipulates that the entry or exit stamp will not be applied on Moldovan citizens’ passports, crossing documents of heads of state and officials, including family members accompanying them, on pilot’s license or flight crew member’s certificate and flight safety inspector’s ID, travel documents and identity documents of the seafarers included in the crew, passports of the passengers on the list of passengers on board of cruise ships.

Heads of state and government and members of their delegation, whose arrival and departure have been officially notified to the Border Police through diplomatic channels, are not subject to border crossing control.

The additional rules on state border crossing control also set the way of recording, processing and transmitting information by carriers.
