Chisinau hosts meeting of Moldovan-Romanian inter-governmental commission for European integration

Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRES/ - The co-heads of the Moldova – Romania Inter-governmental Commission for European Integration, Moldova’s Deputy Foreign Minister Daniela Morari and Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs of Romania Ana Birchall, today had a bilateral meeting, on the sidelines of the aforementioned Commission’s session.

According to the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service, Daniela Morari informed her interlocutor about the recent developments of the Moldova – European Union dialogue, expectations from the Eastern Partnership’s Summit due in November 2017 and Moldova’s stance on prospects for development of the EaP. Also, Morari referred to Moldovan authorities’ efforts to implement the commitments resulting from Association Agreement. She stressed the importance of Romania’s support, materialized through the providing of assistance, expertise and sharing the experience and good practices of Romania when joining the European Union.    

Minister Ana Birchall reconfirmed Romania’s backing for the European integration of Moldova. She reiterated determination to provide assistance, both at practical level to promote reforms and the political support and actions undertaken within EU institutions.    

Also, the officials tackled sectoral aspects of the bilateral cooperation, in particular, the commercial and economic cooperation, implementation of projects on Moldova’s inter-connection to the European energy market, as well as the progress made to promote programmes on cross-border cooperation, including the Moldova – Romania bilateral programme for 2014-2020.
