Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip on 22 May met the delegation of the European Parliament, on a visit to Chisinau, to participate in the fourth meeting of the Moldova – European Union Parliamentary Association Committee, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The sides exchanged opinions on short- and medium-term priorities of the Moldova-EU cooperation, included in the 2017-2019 national action plan for the implementation of the Association Agenda. In the context, the PM reiterated the government’s firm commitment to promote the agenda of transformation for the benefit of the citizens, highlighting the European Parliament’s constant support to promote Moldova’s European integration.

The European officials tackled also the subject on macro-financial assistance discussed in the European Parliament. Thus, the prime minister stressed the importance of the financial support to implement the Reforms’ Agenda. “The macro-financial assistance on behalf of EU is very important for us, just as it was important for us to get a new programme with the International Monetary Fund. The package of conditions helps us mobilize ourselves and move forward. Yet, it is important that we do not politicize the macro-financial assistance, which should follow the reforms,” Pavel Filip said. In the context, the prime minister referred to the concept of the Public Administration reform, which is presently subject to public consultations, emphasizing the need to properly implement this reform.

For their part, the MEPs pointed out the difficult mission, as well as the good results of the government, reiterating the support by the delegation of the Moldova-EU Parliamentary Association Committee for the country’s modernization. “You have had an extremely difficult mission and, in continuation, you have more challenges on the horizon; yet, I and my colleagues from the other political groups have the duty to back Moldova in the European integration process,” MEP Andi Cristea said.
