Moldovan PM meets bashkan of Gagauzia

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip today met Bashkan of Gagauzia Irina Vlah. The sides discussed the possibilities to eliminate flood risk in Gagauzia, in connection with the difficult situation caused by the snow in April 2017, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Irina Vlah thanked Chisinau authorities for the support given to the region in the liquidation of consequences of the bad weather, including for motor pumps delivery.

The sides have analyzed solutions to avoid such situations in the future, noting the need to clean Ialpug river bed on a 22-km stretch from the lake to Congaz town, to build drainage and to change the sewerage networks and water supply.

Regarding the damages incurred by farmers, according to the authorities in the region, amount to about 80 million lei. Currently, it is a priority to earmark compensation for land with multiannual crops affected, being necessary for this purpose about 21 million lei. Filip said that the losses will be compensated within available resources: “We must respect well-established criteria and have an objective approach to allocate money in order to avoid fraud: it is important to help all people who have suffered”.

Another topic was related to the creation of ZEL Chisinau sub-zones in the region, which would allow investors to operate in advantageous conditions. In particular, Fujikura company expressed intention to start its business in Gagauzia.

The sides also exchanged opinions about implementation of study programs in Romanian language in the region. Vlah noted that the interest of local people in the knowledge of the Romanian language is growing from year to year.
