Chisinau, 25 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today paid homage to veterans for their efforts and sacrifice while fulfilling duties at a meeting with veterans and pensioners of the Interior Ministry (MAI) from Moldova’s central and southern regions, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

“I have said and I will repeat it: the veterans, by their sacrifice, were at the basis of the independence and they deserve a special attitude. I thank you personally and on behalf of Moldova’s government for the devotion and spirit of sacrifice you have proved. Our state’s independence is sprinkled with your blood and it is our duty to make come true the dream for which you have fought and which unites us: the one to edify a Moldova where all people live in well-being,” Pavel Filip said.

At the same time, the prime minister referred to actions undertaken by the government to ensure a permanent dialogue between the authorities and veterans. To this end, an action plan, „Memorie. Onoare. Respect” (Memory. Honour. Respect) was approved in 2016. In the context, Pavel Filip said that solutions would be identified to repair the leisure base ”Jemciujina” from Koblevo, southern Ukraine, managed by MAI, so that Interior Ministry employees and veterans have possibility to rest there.

At the same time, the PM urged the MAI veterans to make team with authorities, in order to jointly find solutions to problems they face. “It is very important that we discuss problems you are confronting with; moreover, we should make team to settle them. I do not want to promise a lot, but I assure you that you have every openness of the government, we are receptive to your requests and we are honest in the policies we promote,” Pavel Filip said.

Another subject considered at the meeting was focused on the pension system reform. In this respect, the prime minister noted that this reform was absolutely necessary to ensure the sustainability and fairness of the pensions system. At the same time, Pavel Filip specified that, in the near time, a cooperation agreement would be signed between the MAI Association of Veterans and Pensioners and the National Social Insurances House, which will facilitate the dialogue between the two structures and will allow quickly solving the problems faced by the former Interior Ministry employees.
