Chisinau, 30 May /MOLDPRES/- The World Bank is open to support the Moldovan authorities to work out and implement new regulations to assess and conduct the privatization of state-owned public goods, and to organize a more efficient corporate governance of state-owned enterprises. World Bank Country Director for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine Satu Kahkonen made a statement on the matter at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic.

The talks with World Bank experts took place less than a week after the Public Property Agency had announced a new privatization round of state public property.

Calmic referred to the ways applied by the national authorities in the privatization rounds of state-owned public property, previously organized, including that announced for 26 May-30 June 2017, as well as the elaboration of new methods of privatization in future, based on national and international experience. In the context, the WB experts expressed willingness to back the Moldovan authorities on the issue, coming up with the most effective and useful experience used in different states.

The Public Property Agency announced last week a new round of privatization of state public property, the second one this year, where 10 goods and 11 enterprises will be exposed to auction.

The state budget law for 2017 provides for 220 million lei from the sale and privatization of the public patrimony to finance the budget deficit.
