Chisinau, 30 May /MOLDPRES/ – Moldovan President, Igor Dodon, disapproved the expulsion of five Russian diplomats from Moldova and their declaration as a persona non grata on its territory.

The head of state said today at a press conference that the expulsion of Russian diplomats would have no logical reasoning. "I found out about this decision from the Moldovan Ambassador to the Russian Federation. It is a tough decision, for 25 years of independence, no one has been allowed to make such decisions, especially since relations between the two countries have improved," said Dodon.

"Tomorrow I shall pay a working visit to Sankt-Petersburg and when I come back I will convene a meeting of the Supreme Security Council, where the Head of the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration will report on this Subject", specified the President.

Also today, Prime Minister Pavel Filip specified on this topic that "it can not be provided details about diplomats’ identity, but they have been expelled and declared persona non grata on the basis of SIS’s information."

Also, at the press conference, Igor Dodon announced the signing of resignation decrees of the Liberal Deputy Prime Minister and Ministers. These include Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega, Environment Minister Valeriu Munteanu, Education Minister Corina Fusu and Minister of Transports and Road Infrastructure Iurie Chirinciuc.
