Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/ - The first Catalogue of hotels from both banks of Dniester today was launched at a regional specialty forum. The participants in the event assessed the results achieved by hotel enterprises and tourist organizations from the right and left banks of Dniester during one year, under the aegis of a programme financed by the European Union.

The catalogue Best Hotels of Moldova includes information about the hotel business on both banks of Dniester and will be distributed in printed and electronic forms. The catalogue was worked out by the National Association of Hotels and Restaurants from Moldova and the Regional Development Agency from the left bank of Dniester, which established a cooperation partnership in 2016.

“This investment of the European Union backs the hotel business from both banks of Dniester, and thanks to the exchange of experience, it contributes to enhancing the confidence between people and communities, as well as to providing quality services to people,” a representative of the EU Delegation to Moldova, Marco Gemmer, has said.

“This is the first informative material of this kind, carried out for promoting hotels. The catalogue will be useful especially at international exhibitions, where the consolidated information about the hotel market is highly demanded, particularly to set partnerships,” a project manager at the National Association of Hotels and restaurants from Moldova, Ecaterina Rusu, said.

The launch of the catalogue was preceded by the opening of a tourist information centre in Tiraspol, held in early May. “Together, we managed to get good results for the development of the hotel and tourism industry. During one month after the launch, about one hundred tourists were consulted at the Tiraspol centre. Moreover, the structure contributes to the overcoming of the present stereotypes about the left bank of Dniester – an important step towards strengthening the trust,” the head of the Tiraspol-based Regional Development Agency, Tatiana Iascova, said.

These actions are part of projects of the Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme, financed by EU and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The programme has a budget of ten million euros and helps consolidate the confidence between the residents of the two banks of Dniester by the involvement of local authorities, civil society and business environment representatives in joint activities of development and improving the communities’ infrastructure. “We are sure that the people from the two banks of Dniester feel the benefits of the cooperation. We tend to identify new options in order to achieve this,” a UNPD deputy resident representative in Moldova, Stefan Liller, said.
