Moldovan National fine arts competition nominates winners

Chisinau, 02 June /MOLDPRES/ – The week of Italian Culture in Moldova, which took place on 26 May – 02 June, ended at the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, with the award ceremony of the winners of the national art competition "Pinocchio for children" today.

The event was organized by the Italy-Moldova Social Promotion Association, in collaboration with the Foundation Copilul (the Child) in Chisinau, the Embassy of Italy in Moldova and the host institution.

Interviewed by the agency, Gian Luca Del Marco, president of the Italy-Moldova Social Promotion Association, said the current issue of the Italian Culture Week was dedicated to Pinocchio, the famous character of the novel for children of the same name written by Carlo Collodi, which presents the adventures of a puppet, becoming a little boy.

On this occasion, an exhibition of 150 works carved in wood by the artist Lino Monopoli was inaugurated at the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, where more than 50 works of painting dedicated to Pinocchio were exhibited, collected from several countries.

Also, there was presented an exhibition of laureates of the national art competition "Pinocchio for children", realized in collaboration with the School of Fine Arts  "A. Sciusev" from Chisinau.

"Those 112 works were appreciated by a jury of five plastic art teachers, and the young painters raised their awards on 27 May. "Today we organized the award ceremony of this contest winners, nominated by the public. The winning works will be exhibited in Collodi, Italy, where there is an exhibition of drawings dedicated to Pinocchio and made by children all over the world," said Gian Luca Del Marco.

The first prize was Alexandra Chirosca, second prize – Polina Budan and third prize – Marta Dragan, pupils at the School of Fine Arts "A. Sciusev". Also, a group of students was mentioned with special prizes.

Exhibition "Pinocchio for children" will be open until 15 June.
