Ballet artists born in Moldova to participate in gala concert in Chisinau

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - A gala concert titled, World Ballet Stars, will be held in Moldova at the Palace of the Republic for the first time ever on 16 June. Ballet artists who were born and worked in Moldova, and successfully act on theatres from all over the world at present will perform on stage.    

The idea to launch this project belongs to Moldovan People’s Artists Cristina and Alexei Terentiev and was backed by the director of the Palace of the Republic, Nicolae Dumbrava, ballet masters Iurie Gorscov, Eugen Girnet, etc.  

At a today’s news conference, Cristina Terentiev said that one of the goals of the project was to popularize the art of the classic ballet in Moldova. “Pupils of the National Choreography College will perform on the same stage with ballet masters. As a matter of fact, an objective of the concert is to attract gifted children and young people to this institution,” Cristina Terentiev noted. Another goal of the concert, Alexei Terentiev said, is to bring again to Moldova artists who left and had not given concerts on home stages for many years and many of them will got on the stage for the first time ever.      

For his part, the director of the Palace of the Republic, Nicolae Dumbrava, stressed that the project’s initiators took every effort to organize a nice holiday, full of surprises for all those who like this genre of art.   

Participating in the World Ballet Stars concert will be: merited artists from Moldova, first soloists of the Odessa-based Opera Theatre Maria Poliubova and Vladimir Statnii, a soloist of the Vienna Opera Mihail Sosnovschi, first soloist of the Russian Imperial Ballet (Moscow), Lina Shevelyova, soloist of the Opera and Ballet Theatre from Denver, the USA, Alexandru Glushakov, a soloist of the Yakobson Theatre from Saint Petersburg, Sofia Matyushenskaya, first soloist of the Berlin-based State Ballet Alexei Orlenco, soloist in Venice, Italy, Cristina Tipirig, and others.     

According to organizers, the audience will be able to admire masterpieces of the classical choreography of the ballets The Pirate, La Sylphide, Don Quijote, The Nutcracker, Giselle, Tarantella, as well as the classical Pas de Deux by Tchaikovsky. The neo-classical programme will be presented through works by Boris Eifman, Radu Poclitaru, Gheorghe Covtun and Eugen Girnet.
