Transactions worth over two billion lei made through MPay service in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/ – The government electronic payment service MPay recorded and processed about 5 million transactions worth over 2 billion lei. These figures indicate citizens’ confidence in government technology platforms and the usefulness of this on-line payment mechanism. MPay was launched in September 2013, the Electronic Governance Centre’s press release has informed.

MPay allows the payment of a wide range of public services, the most popular by number of transactions being customs services, taxes, road fines, e-criminal records, e-Vignette and paying the kindergarten fee.

The Centre Executive Assistant, Victoria Rosca, said that MPay made it possible to pay for services through multiple payment methods such as bank cards, payment terminals, e-banking systems and cash payments. In case of cash payments, citizens who do not have access to the Internet can reach the offices of the connected banks or the Post Offices of Moldova offices.

MPay offers citizens the opportunity to pay real estate tax online without going to the banks’ counters, waiting for endless queues. In the case of paying the tax until 30 June 2017, citizens benefit from a 15 per cent reduction provided by the tax legislation in force. In order to pay tax, it is necessary to access mpay.gov.md and select the payment of real estate tax.
