Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - Unstable weather, accompanied by thunderstorm rain and wind gusts are expected in places in Moldova on the days to come. At the same time, meteorologists do not rule out announcing a Yellow Code of hot weather.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, a meteorologist at the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS), Natalia Golub, has informed that thunderstorm rains, accompanied by wind with a speed of up 15-20 metres/second, are expected in Moldova in the next 24 hours. “Starting from 22 June, the air temperatures will record a slight decrease, triggered by a cold wave. Thus, the air temperatures on 23-25 June will be +13 - +18 Celsius degrees at night and +25 - +30 degrees during the day. Subsequently, the air temperatures will rise up to +35 degrees; yet the weather will remain unstable, with rains, wind and thunderstorm in places,” Natalia Golub noted.

The SHS representative also said that, for the time being, it is not about the announcing of a Yellow Code of hot weather; yet, she does not exclude that this code would be set in the next seven days.

At the same time, the specialist specified that the weather forecasts show air temperatures in the shadow, while in the sun they are usually higher by 7-8 degrees.

Asked whether information alleging that this summer might be the most droughty and hot one of the last years is grounded, Natalia Golub said that “no qualified forecast can provide such data.”

“Such information has a very low degree of credibility. The most concrete ones are the forecasts for three days, the ones for seven days have a certain degree of approximation; as for the rest, it is about just probabilities. Last summer started droughty, but ended with rainy weather; this year the situation is vice versa. So, it is not ruled out that we will have an excessively hot weather in some regions; yet, nothing can be affirmed for sure,” Natalia Golub added.
