Moldovan cabinet approves classified list of fields of professional training, specialties in higher education

Chisinau, 23 June /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet, at a today’s meeting, approved a classified list of the fields of professional training and specialties in the higher education, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

The new document is proposed on four levels, as follows: ten fundamental fields of the science, culture and technology; 26 general education fields; 71 fields of professional training and 187 specialties at the cycle I, degree. Compulsorily, the new classified list includes the four-figure European codification system, with detailing at the degree programmes.  

Among the new elements of the document, there are:

- two fundamental fields of the science, culture and technology: business, administration and law and information technology and communication;  

- nine general education fields: philology, business and administration, chemical sciences, sciences of the environment, physical sciences, mathematics and statistics, information technology and communications, forestry.    

- 12 fields of professional training, among which: biochemistry, vegetal and animal production, designing and administration of databases and information networks, development and analysis of software programmes and applications, mining and extractions, medical assistance and midwifes.  

- 28 specialties, including: Romanian language and literature, criminology and criminal sciences, software engineering, telecommunications networks and software, product designing, general medical assistance, midwifes, Physio Kinetotherapy and recovery, orthometry.

Also, more specialties were optimized, in order to ensure a more extended access to employment.

The syllabi were accredited or provisionally authorized till the date of the entrance into force of this classified list and preserves the rights coming from accreditation/ authorization. Students admitted to studies based on the old classified list will end their education according to its provisions.  

The draft is meant to ensure a more efficient management of the financial and human resources by the higher education institutions, through generalizing the syllabi from the present classified list and implicitly, enhancing of the chances of graduates’ employment. At the same time, the classified list will guarantee the continuity of the university education cycles: graduation degree, master’s degree, doctor’s degree and will provide Moldova with qualified staff, in line with the labour market’s requirements.
