United States of America marks Independence Day

Chisinau, 04 July /MOLDPRES/ – It is the National Day of the United States of America today, a federal state in North America, located in the central part of the continent, between the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean, adjacent to Canada and Mexico. On this day, the whole country celebrates the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on 04 July 1776, when it was proclaimed the independence from the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

The USA has 50 states and a federal district (Colombia), with an area of ​​9,396,691 square kilometers and a population of 318.9 million people. The capital city is Washington.

The United States ranks first in the world by global production volume. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is $16.776 trillion, and GDP per capita is $50041.98.

The export consists: means of transport, industrial equipment and machinery, machine tools, electrical and electronic equipment, chemicals, textiles, etc. It imports mining raw materials, oil, tea, coffee, food.

The diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America were established on 28 February 1992.

According to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, in January-April 2016, Moldova exported goods amounting to $6002.3 thousand to the USA, the share being 1.01 per cent. During the same period, $17005.6 thousand was imported from the US, accounting for 1.32 per cent.

Since 1992, the United States has provided Moldova with financial assistance of nearly $1.2 billion, including $20.66 million in the fiscal year 2014, provided by the US Government through USAID, the State Department and the Defence Department.
