IXth Meeting of Informal Ministerial Dialogue on Eastern Partnership takes place in Chisinau

Chisinau, 10 July /MOLDPRES/ – Foreign Ministers of the Eastern Partnership countries and European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, attended the 9th Meeting of the Informal Ministerial Dialogue on the Eastern Partnership held in Chisinau today.

At the end of the meeting, the officials held a press conference announcing the discussed topics and priorities for the following three years.

Deputy Prime Minister, Andrei Galbur, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, said that the main subject of the talks was the preparation of the Eastern Partnership Summit (PaE), which is to be held in November in Brussels. "The defining features of PaE, as well as the inter- sectoral development directions, were also reiterated. Also, it was discussed the proposal to recalibrate the multilateral institutional architecture of the Partnership," said Galbur.

The European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, said that the European Union would continue to support countries in the EaP and appreciated the efforts made by the Moldovan authorities in the process of getting closer to the EU. The official added that they also discussed the ways to make PaE more visible, but also a series of results obtained in that format and energy efficiency aspects. "This meeting is an impetus to implement and develop new opportunities. We aim to work equally productively further on, so that we can create benefits for our citizens," said the European Commissioner.

At the conference, the officials from Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia reviewed the outcomes and benefits of their countries in the EaP and published the directives for the upcoming years.

A topic addressed by the majority of participants was also the EU's involvement in solving and mediating conflicts in the PaE countries.
