Chisinau, 10 July /MOLDPRES/ – A new page is opened in the relations between Moldova and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after signing in Chisinau of two bilateral agreements on the mutual promotion and protection of investments and on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion with reference to taxes on income and on property.

According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department, a statement to that effect was made by Speaker, Andrian Candu, at the meeting with the Foreign and International Cooperation Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheik Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Andrei Galbur, attended the meeting.

The new legal framework will provide new investment opportunities. The officials discussed the re-launch of direct flights, as well as the investment potential in Moldova in aviation, agriculture and energy infrastructure development fields.

"The United Arab Emirates have a bilateral, regional and global trustworthy partner," said the Speaker.

Sheik Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced that he would be happy to promote Moldova in the region. His Highness also said that in the near future the visa regime could be abolished for the Moldovan citizens.

We would like to mention that the initiation of negotiation of cooperation agreements between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Moldova was discussed at the joint meeting of Parliament Speaker, Andrian Candu and Deputy Prime Minister, Andrei Galbur, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration in March 2017 during the officials’ visit to the UAE, at the invitation of the royal family.
