New opportunities set for intensifying cooperation of Moldova, United Arab Emirates

Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/ – The visa regime facilitation, possibility of resuming direct flights between Moldova and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), also participation of Moldova in Dubai EXPO 2020, were the main themes discussed at the meeting of Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on 10 July, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

During the talks, the Prime Minister noted the momentum of the high-level dialogue between Moldova and the UAE, expressing his conviction that would contribute to intensification of the cooperation between Moldova and the UAE. In this context, Pavel Filip said that the opening of the diplomatic missions of Moldova and the UAE would create new opportunities for deepening bilateral cooperation.

Similarly, the Prime Minister noted the importance of signing bilateral agreements on promotion and protection of investments and on avoiding double taxation and preventing tax evasion, so as to strengthen trade and economic cooperation between Moldova and the UAE. Further on, Pavel Filip also talked about the reforms promoted by the Executive in order to create a competitive business environment by removing administrative barriers to business development and minimizing state controls.

"In order to improve the investment climate, we reduced the number of controlling entities, the number of permissive acts for business development, are reforming the justice field and promoting a balanced fiscal policy. I firmly believe that all these actions will contribute to attracting investments into Moldovan economy," said Pavel Filip.

In the context, the head of the Executive invited the UAE companies to participate in the privatization of the state-run enterprises, such as Moldtelecom, Air Moldova, and the energy sector companies.

At his part, Secretary of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE, Sheik Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said that the UAE were open to deepening bilateral dialogue and agreements, signed on 10 July, between the parties created new opportunities for boosting bilateral cooperation in more fields.

At the end of the meeting, the head of the Government sent to the Prime Minister of the UAE the invitation to visit Moldova.
