Moldovan national army commander pays official visit to USA

Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/ – The commander of the National Army, Brigadier General, Igor Cutie, pays an official visit to the United States of America ,on July 10-12, at the invitation of the chief of North Carolina National Guard (NCNG), General, Gregory Lusk.

The defence ministry's public relations department has reported to the agency that General, Igor Cutie, had bilateral talks with the US National Security Director, General, Timothy J. Kadavy, and General of the NCNG, General, Gregory Lusk, where he discussed military cooperation between Moldova and the USA.

During a meeting with General Timothy J. Kadavy, held in Washington DC, the Commander of the National Army appreciated the US contribution to reforming the defence sector in Moldova, troop training and logistical support to the National Army through various assistance and training programs. "Thanks to your support, we have been able to maintain the military's combat capability and carry out the reforming of the defence institution," said the National Army’s commander.

In Raleigh, North Carolina, General Igor Cutie and General Gregory Lusk discussed the cooperation of National Army soldiers with US troops in the North Carolina National Guard as part of joint training exercises and programs developed through the Partnership Program. In this respect, Cutie Brigadier General thanked General Lusk for the constant support given to the National Army, noting that bilateral exercises and joint training in the military, engineering, public relations and other fields, contributed to the increase of the professional performance of the staff of the National Army.

The Moldovan National Army and the National Guard of the State of North Carolina signed in May 2013, in Chisinau, a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of partnerships between the units of the two military structures. The document provides for the strengthening of relations between the National Army and US troops, as well as the promotion of cooperation between the military units of Moldova and the USA.

The partnership between Moldova and North Carolina was launched in April 1999 by signing a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding aimed at facilitating cooperation in the economic, cultural, scientific, academic, defence and civil protection fields, coordinating the humanitarian efforts of various governmental institutions and non-governmental organizations.
