Moldovan diplomacy head keeps speech at informal meeting of foreign ministers of OSCE member states

Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Prime Minister, Andrei Galbur, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, attended the Informal Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the OSCE Member States, which took place in Mauerbach, Austria, on 11 July. The ministerial meeting was organized by the Austrian Presidency to stimulate the high-level dialogue on the existing challenges to security in the OSCE area and possible solutions, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.

In his speech, Minister Andrei Galbur referred to issues of arms control and conflict resolution in particular. In order to ensure the transparency, predictability and normal functioning of the military security system in Europe, it is necessary to return the Member States to respecting an order based on clear rules and principles for all. In the same context, the head of the Moldovan diplomacy referred to a number of existing concerns, including reiterating the need to complete the withdrawal of foreign military forces from the territory of Moldova.

Minister Galbur also emphasized that the dialogue on the revival of the European security system should include the issue of unsolved conflicts on its agenda. The efforts to restore confidence in the OSCE area must include conflict issues in its agenda without any prejudice to the work of existing negotiation formats.

The Moldovan official also noted that the deterioration of the security climate required the necessity of finding comprehensive solutions to common problems and the resumption of dialogue on restoring confidence and building a genuine security community in the Euro-Atlantic area.
