Moldovan government sets new opportunities of professional training for gymnasium graduates

Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ - The graduates of colleges and centres of excellence from Moldova, who studied based on gymnasium education, will compulsorily take the vocational school-leaving examinations and not the academic one, as it is at present. The cabinet of ministers approved the change today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

The vocational school-leaving examinations will allow the graduates of the post-secondary and non-tertiary vocational training syllabi to participate in the admission contest of cycle I of higher education at a specialty in the field studied. At the same time, upon request, the graduates of colleges and centres of excellence will be able to take also the national academic school-leaving examinations, who will allow them continuing the higher education in other sectors of professional training.    

Also, the government ruled to back the improvement of the system of initial training of teachers in the vocational education and the admission to education will be made also for the graduates of the ninth forms. At the same time, the approved draft provides for the replacement of the position of backer of educator by the one of assistant of educator. The change will allow benefitting from professional training. The duration of the syllabi for these categories of civil servants will be of three years.   

At the same time, the government backed the extension by one year of the term of entrance into force of the provisions on the compulsoriness of holding master higher education to hold positions in the lyceum education and to finish doctor’s education to work in the higher education. The measure is meant to give enough time to teachers to get the needed qualifications.     

The goal of the amendments and completions approved is to provide, in a medium term, a system of training teachers at the level of post-secondary and non-tertiary vocational education. Presently, the initial training of teachers can be carried out only in higher education institutions, for the graduates of lyceum education.
