Chisinau, 21 July /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has informed about a yellow code of hydrological drought, valid for the entire territory of Moldova for 20 July – 2 August.

According to SHS specialists, the hydrological drought in Moldova’s rivers and lakes is triggered by the lack of precipitation and high air temperatures.

In the context, the Environment Ministry demands that the residents, especially economic agents, rationally consumer the water resources.

Also, starting from 20 July, yellow code of heat is announced in Moldova; thus, on the days to come, the air temperatures will exceed +33 Celsius degrees. The highest air temperatures will be recorded in southern Moldova – more than +36 Celsius degrees during this week-end. At night, the air temperatures will vary between +16 and +23 degrees.

For its part, the Civil Protection Emergency Situations Service said that it would double the number of anti-heat tents in the Chisinau city. Additional tents will be set starting from 22 July; here, people will be able to benefit from water and first qualified aid. The tents will work at 10:00-18:00 during the dog days. Thirteen anti-heat rehabilitation points have been created in Moldova so far, where almost 5,000 people appeal daily.

SHS specialists said that the yellow code provides for conditions of potentially dangerous weather, meteorological phenomena usual for Moldova’s territory, but which can become dangerous for certain social and economic activities.
