Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Joint Control Commission (CUC) met in Bender city on 27 July, at the last ordinary meeting of this session, the office for reintegration policy’s information and media communication service has reported.

According to the agenda, at the proposal of the Ukrainian delegation to the JCC, they were confirmed as military observers: Colonels Stanislav Akseonov and Grigorie Ceredaiko, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Kulalaev, Mayors Pavel Jikola and Sergey Savin. At the same time, the members of the Commission dismissed five Ukrainian military observers in connection with the completion of the travel term.

The JCC members also heard and approved the weekly report on the situation in the Security Zone (ZS), which was described as stable.

At the meeting, the representatives of Moldova in the JCC called on all delegations, as during the summer vacation, to refrain from any unilateral actions, which could lead to the destabilization of the situation within the perimeter of the SZ.

The appeal came in the context of official information published on the website of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation that the GOTR staff stationed illegally on the left bank of the Dniester began the preparations for a military exercise implying the Dniester's forcing. The military exercise would be held later this July involving 50 military, combat technicians, including armoured ones.

It should be noted that GOTR's declared powers do not comprise the crossing of water obstacles, especially in the Security Zone, on which the Dniester riverbed is located.

Thus, the unilateral actions programmed by GOTR, which according to the Agreement of 21 July 1992 must respect neutrality, could distort and compromise the pacification operation in the Transnistrian region of Moldova.

Regretfully, however, we find that the Transnistrian representatives and the Russian Federation in the JCC ignore the appeal and disagree with the above-mentioned ones, oppose the assumption of the responsibility to avoid the challenges in the Security Zone during the holidays.

The next JCC meeting will take place on 07 September 2017.
