Moldovan deputy premier meets representative of UN Women in Moldova

Chisinau, 31 July /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan today had a meeting with Representative of UN Women in Moldova Ulziisuren Jamsran, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.   

The sides exchanged opinions on prospects for working out a National Action Plan on the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on the role of women in ensuring peace and security. The officials reviewed also developments recorded in the activity of the working group, set up under the Government Instruction No 54 from 29 May 2017 and led by Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan.      

Referring to the Transnistrian file and women’s involvement in this dimension, Balan said that the Transnistrian conflict settlement process was complex, and the women, especially those involved in platforms of negotiations and in the activity of sectoral working groups, had an essential role in the promotion of approaches of conciliation, mediation and settlement of deadlock situations.   

In the end of the meeting, Gheorghe Balan thanked for the support provided by UN Women in Moldova and voiced hope for maintaining a prodigious cooperation in the long run as well.
