Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/- The online mTender platform, which will be used for public procurement in Moldova, was presented today at an event titled: “Electronic auctions – transparency in public procurement”. The presentation was organized jointly by the Finance Ministry and Moldovan Businessmen Association.

According to the press service of the ministry, over 70 public and private companies from various sectors of the national economy – industry, transport, agriculture, construction, medicine and pharmaceutics etc. were represented at the event. The ministry specialists informed about the platform’s operation and the benefits it will bring – especially reducing procurement costs, transparency and increased opportunities for private companies to get public contracts.

“This platform will bring benefits both to the state – better prices for quality products and to entrepreneurs – creating a competitive environment”, Finance Minister Octavian Armasu said. For his part, AOAM director general Alexandru Baltag expressed confidence that the event would increase business confidence in the electronic procurement system and would persuade more entrepreneurs to participate in auctions.

AOAM and Finance Ministry signed a memorandum of collaboration on optimizing public procurement system.

The online procurement system is funded by EBRD and is now in the testing phase. The concept of the platform will be approved by a government decision in the coming period. The platform will become fully operation in 2018 and will become mandatory for public institutions to make acquisitions.
