Moldovan ministries staff to be reduced by up to 50 per cent

Chisinau, 30 August /MOLDPRES/- The central office of the ministries will be reduced by up to 50 per cent, according to the government’s decisions on organization and functioning of the ministries, approved at the today’s meeting.

Thus, the upper limit of the central apparatus of Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure will be 155 units against 311 officials currently. A reduction of 45 per cent will be operated at the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, and 30 per cent – at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection will have a limited number of staff of 105 units, down by 50 than today.

The staff reductions are made in the context of the central public administration reform, which led to taking over of the functions of some ministries by others and consequently to decreasing in the number of ministries from 16 to 9.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip announced today that following the central public administration reform, staff cuts will be made, in some institutions it will reach up to 50 per cent. “Employees will know what to do, and will be even better paid. We are criticized for our actions. This is not a wage increase. We will save from resources that the government has had. We will do the same with government agencies in the next step. Our goal is that the best specialists to work for the government”, Filip said.
