Chisinau, 12 September /MOLDPRES/- The National commission on setting permanent uninominal constituencies will meet today in the first session.

Head, deputy head and secretary of the commission will be elected at the meeting.

The government has previously approved Regulation on the activity of the National Commission on setting permanent uninominal constituencies that will be the normative basis for the commission’s activity and will ensure an efficient and transparent mechanism of constituency formation.

The document sees the criteria for setting up 51 permanent uninominal constituencies for the purpose of holding parliamentary elections, as specified the rules forming constituencies abroad and in the settlements in the Transnistrian region.

Under the draft, the lists of uninominal constituencies, indicating the numbers and boundaries, approved by the government, will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova in order to ensure the transparency principle.

The regulation was worked out following the amendments to the Electoral Code and Law on MP status, which were in force in July this year.
