Moldovan parliament speaker discuss with people coming to parliament on Democracy Day

Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu today answered questions by participants in workshops organized by the parliament jointly with Council for elimination and prevention of discrimination and ensuring equality and the ombudsman for human rights, the parliament’s communication and public relations has reported.    

About 70 persons discussed with Adrian Candu the situation in education, local administration, democracy and right to vote. The parliament speaker answered questions by the participants in the events organized in the occasion of the Day of Democracy. At the same time, Candu asked children from what age the right to vote should be given, what is democracy for them, how much burdened the syllabus is, why foreign languages must be learned and how much time they have left for sport and phone.    

Also, the speaker during the day returned to the session hall and met groups of visitors. Adrian Candu answered questions by people, took requests and complaints.  

During the day, visitors could discuss with MPs of various parliamentary groups. All discussions were broadcast live on the parliament’s webpage. During the visit, people could discuss with representatives of those 15 public institutions which answered the parliament’s invitation and displayed exhibitions at the parliament on the Day of Democracy. Also, they visited the parliament’s museum, where an exhibition of caricatures titled, Gender Equality Understood by Everybody, was inaugurated. The event was organized by the platform for gender equality.   

For the first time ever this year, the parliament agreed with an initiative by UN to promote the Day of Democracy, along with another over 100 parliaments from all over the world.
