Moldovan Democratic Party's political council to hold meeting

14:38 | 19.09.2017 Category: Political

Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/ - The political council of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM) will hold a meeting in early next October. PDM deputy leader Adrian Candu made statements to this effect at a news briefing today.

According to Candu, the agenda has not been established as yet, but there are already a string of subjects which are to be considered. “The PDM Bureau’s decision was that this meeting takes place in early next October. We will come up with additional information on the agenda and date,” Candu noted.

The Democrats’ deputy leader showed perplexity about the refusal by the head of state Igor Dodon to appoint Eugen Sturza as defence minister. Candu specified that, today morning, the government had notified the Constitutional Court about the interpretation of the Article 98 from Moldova’s Constitution, in order to clear up actions which can be undertaken by the prime minister and the decisions which can be adopted by the Moldovan parliament, if the president of Moldova repeatedly refuses a proposal to appoint a minister to office.

“We must not get to institutional blockages,” Candu said.

President Igor Dodon today informed that he repeatedly turned down the candidacy of Eugen Sturza for the position of defence minister.
