Moldovan energy regulator announces new ceiling prices, lower for petrol, higher for diesel

15:24 | 03.10.2017 Category: Economic

Chisinau, 03 October /MOLDPRES/ – The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) set for 04 – 17 October the trading price at most demanded petrol Premium-95 at MDL 17.20 per litre compared to MDL 17.51 previously, and for diesel MDL 15.41, by 21 bani more than the previous period.

The new prices, set today, will come into force at midnight, and will be obligatory from 04 October to 17 October. The operators will not have the right to retail fuel at prices higher than those set by ANRE.

According to Reuters, on the morning of 03 October, quotations of crude oil continued to decrease, as investors are skeptical about the projected decline in oil surplus on world market. The Brent oil price dropped 0.45 per cent to $55.87 a barrel.

Among the main factors behind price hikes, analysts listed increases in oil production in OPEC countries in September. The oil production by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries in September increased by 50,000 barrels per day to 32.86 million barrels per day, indicate calculations of Reuters.

The main factors of OPEC output growth in the previous month were the increase in raw material production in Libya, which is not included in the world oil pact, as well as the increase in exports from Iraq.

The OPEC and a few outside countries, including Russia, agreed in late December 2016 to cut production by 1.8 million barrels per day to balance world demand and supply. Later, they agreed to extend the pact until March 2018.
