Moldova receives 200,000 doses of anti-flu vaccines on behalf of international organization

Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/ - The international organization, The Task Force for Global Health, has donated Moldova 200,000 doses of anti flu vaccines. The consignment was brought to Moldova and received at the national warehouse of vaccines under the National Public Health Centre (CNSP) of the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry.   

According to data put out by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, the vaccine will be distributed to public medical and sanitary institutions; afterwards, the campaign of immunization against the seasonal flu of the professional contingents with higher risk of falling sick will begin. The people ill with chronic diseases, medical employees, employees of the troops of carabineers and border guards, Emergency Situations Service, Customs Service and children from orphanages will have priority in vaccination.  

The Influenza Vaccine (Split Virion) is approved by the World Health Organization and contains the strains of the A and B type flu viruses. It is effective only against the influenza triggered by the seasonal viruses, A (H1N1), A (H3N2) and B.  

Doctors say that the vaccination is the safest and most efficient way of preventing the falling sick with flu and recommends that all those who fit the high risk of falling ill demand vaccination, which is free of charge. The benefits of the vaccination against influenza are: reducing the risk of appearance of severe forms of the disease and the number of cases of falling sick, visits to doctor, losses of working or education days, as well as prevention of complications, hospitalization and deaths caused by influenza.   

The Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry warns that, to avoid the risk of appearance of hotbeds in staffs of children, the selection, made by teachers at the first education class, by sending to doctor or isolation at home of any minor with fever of any other symptoms of acute respiratory infection, is of major importance.
