Moldovan PM demands that taxi drivers' work be legalized

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, reflected again upon the issue of illegal taxi drivers, at the beginning of the Cabinet meeting today, referring in particular to the taxi services provided at Chisinau International Airport, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The Prime Minister said they could have organized dozens of business forums, wine festivals and other promotions, but all the efforts would be in vain, because of bad impression of Moldova, formed at the guests’ entering it, even at International Airport. That is the phenomenon of illegal taxi drivers, who clutter the passengers, to the exit of the airport, serve cars without special plates, do not issue payment checks, leave cars’ technical condition and interior much to be desired.
"We have all the tools at hand to make order in a right mode. How can we talk about salary, pension increases, social investments, if we do not offer payment checks. That would mean that money is being used illegally," said Pavel Filip.
Also, the Prime Minister mentioned that his demand to take measures for making taxi drivers’ work to be legalised was not heard. In this respect, Pavel Filip asked the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure to form a working group with the involvement of all responsible institutions for finding needed solutions for solving the problem.
