Moldovan policemen receive equipment, vehicles bought with EU support

Chisinau, 16 October /MOLDPRES/ - Moldovan policemen today received equipment, computer technology and vehicles worth 30.7 million lei, purchased with the support of the European Union.    

The equipment was distributed to law-enforcers at an official event in which Deputy Interior Minister Dorin Purice, Police Head Alexandru Panzari and the deputy head of the Operations Section at the European Union Delegation to Moldova, Marco Gemmer, participated.     

Deputy Interior Minister Dorin Purice has said that the new acquisitions would strengthen certain branches of the police reform and would help provide quality services to citizens.  

“Today, we have all needed instruments, through which we are able and must become a more modern, more efficient police, more closer to citizens; or this fact begins, first of all, with us, the police employees, who besides the fact that they should change the attitude as to the needs of the citizens, they should be endowed properly, in order to be able to offer high quality services to the society,” Police Head Alexandru Panzari said.    

The consignment is made up of 54 cars, which will be brought to the police sectors and guard units of the territorial inspectorates, 2.053 units of computer technology: computers, printers and more than 4,000 units of equipment, among which tactic belts with covers for handcuffs, pepper guns, pistol cases, lanterns, tactical handcuffs and gloves.
