Chisinau, 16 October /MOLDPRES/ - Slovakia’s experience in the European integration process and the models which might be taken over by Moldova were discussed by Deputy Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu Iurie Leanca and the head of the European Affairs Committee of the Slovakian National Council, L’uboš Blaha today, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

The discussions were focused on Moldova’s European integration and progress made in the implementation of the Association Agreement.

“With the EU support, Moldova can make progress in changing the mentalities of the citizens and modernizing the institutions. Moldova has chances only if it implements reforms, which yield results,” Iurie Leanca said.

The deputy parliament speaker referred also to the process of approximating the national legislation to the EU legislation. He specified that this process was not quite easy, and Moldova’s parliament needs the experience of friendly countries, in order not to repeat the mistakes committed by other states.

“We must take over the good practices in the process of approximating the legislation to the EU legislation and to know how to inform the citizens about the results achieved,” Leanca noted.

At the same time, the deputy parliament speaker appreciated Slovakia’s decision to include Moldova in the list of the first three countries benefitting from assistance for development. Moldova is the only country from Europe selected by Slovakia for assistance and the assistance programme is carried out in 2014-2018.

For his part, the head of the European Affairs Committee of the Slovakian National Council, L’uboš Blaha, encouraged the Moldovan authorities to make efforts, so that Moldova becomes an EU member states at the fit moment.
